Introducing My Series on Creating Imaginary Brands for Anime Characters

A digital announcement graphic featuring a Sailor Moon-inspired aesthetic for a new content series titled 'If Magical Girls Had Brands.' The background showcases a close-up of a hand holding a pink, star-decorated transformation device, reminiscent of classic magical girl anime. A bold pink label on the device reads, 'New Content Series Coming Soon! If Magical Girls Had Brands.' In the top right corner, a circular cutout features Jade wearing a stylish cap and pointing directly at the viewer with a glowing magical effect, surrounded by floating social media icons. The 'Marketing Moonie' logo is subtly placed in the upper right corner.

In September of last year, I was rewatching Sailor Moon Crystal in preparation for the long awaited release of Sailor Moon Cosmos and I started to wonder—what if each of the Sailor Moon characters had their own brands?

Imagine their color palettes, businesses, logos, products, and services!!?? Then came the imposter syndrome: Could I make them unique enough to stand out, yet nostalgic enough that other Sailor Moon fans would be able to recognize them?

I knew that no other anime and marketing creators were doing brand building exercises like this so I figured I should be the first to put my imagination to good use and build brand boards for my favorite magical girls. And I won’t be limited to just Sailor Moon: I’m thinking Lucy and Erza from Fairy Tail, Madoka Magica, Mermaid Melody, Sakura Cardcaptor, and more. I won’t be forgetting the magical boys either. I’ve already got a concept for Asta from Black Clover!

This series not only lets me practice my brand-building skills, but it also gives me a creative space to reconnect with my love for anime and the characters that inspire me. The genuine joy that I feel imagining a dessert shop brand for Usagi Tsukino is unmatched.

Stay tuned as I dive into creating unique brand identities that capture the essence of these iconic characters. From dreamy aesthetics to magical details and everything in between, I can’t wait to bring these ideas to life and share them with fellow anime lovers and creatives like you.
