Eternal Elegance: Imagining a Skincare Brand for Sailor Saturn

If Sailor Saturn had her own skincare brand, it would be peak ethereal beauty with a dark, romantic twist. Like Queen of the Damned but with a little glitter. Hotaru Tomoe, the enigmatic and powerful Senshi of Destruction and Rebirth, embodies mystery, elegance, and transformation—all the makings of many of the bougee skincare lines we know and love. So I came up with Timeless Skincare. My second go at conceptualizing this imaginary brand was an absolute dream, capturing the essence of the romantic goth aesthetic while delivering luxurious, otherworldly products.

Lessons from My First Attempt: Finding the Right Balance

My first attempt at crafting this brand leaned towards a dark Lolita aesthetic, inspired by Sailor Saturn’s youth and her deep connection to Chibi Usa in Sailor Moon. However, I ran into some hiccups:

πŸ’œ Font Pairing Struggles – Finding the right balance between cute and gothic was harder than expected. The typography often clashed with the overall theme, making it difficult to create a cohesive identity.

πŸ’œ Bland Visuals – While the concept was solid, the execution felt lacking in the overall feel of the visuals. Not the best mood board to represent the aesthetic that I was going for.

πŸ’œ Logo Versatility Issues – The initial logo designs lacked adaptability. They didn’t translate well across different branding materials, making it clear that I needed a more refined and flexible design.

All of this led me to pivot my approach, stepping away from forcing a literal clock as the iconography of the the brand (how corny is that?) to leaning fully into the romantic goth aesthetic while incorporating richer textures, dynamic visuals, and a more sophisticated approach to Hotaru’s brand.

Aesthetic & Branding: Romantic Goth Meets Celestial Beauty

From the deep purples and velvety blacks to the neon accents that hint at cosmic energy, every detail of this brand is giving Sailor Saturn’s awakening. The branding is a love letter to all the gothic girlies that have a little magical girl in them.

What I loved about this version of Hotaru’s skincare brand is that the new font pairings and style of key elements allow me to generate an incredible variety of logo options, each one embodying the beauty of rebirth and decay. Applying these elements to graphics truly made the entire vision come to life (or back to life πŸ§›πŸ»‍♂️).

Product Highlights: A Touch of the Eternal

I was so excited about this Sailor Saturn-inspired skincare line that I started jumping into conceptualizing her products and even giving them names. Timeless Skincare would undoubtedly focus on anti-aging and skin repair so here’s a glimpse at some of the products that the alt and goth communities would die for:

πŸ¦‡ Set in Stone – An anti-aging cream that preserves and revitalizes, inspired by Hotaru’s porcelain doll look.

πŸ¦‡ Like Marble – A luxurious hand cream that nourishes and softens, leaving hands as smooth as sculpted stone. Remember those weeping angels from Doctor Who? That could be you, boo.

πŸ¦‡ Night’s Requiem – A rich, restorative night serum infused with ingredients as powerful as Saturn’s Silence Glaive.

Nosferatu Collaboration, Or Nah?

A Timeless Skincare x Nosferatu collab would be a match made in the afterlife. πŸ’€ Lily-Rose Depp and Bill SkarsgΓ₯rd would make the most romantically haunting ad. Immersive activations highlighting the skincare line in tandem with the film’s release would go viral. Cosplayers could take their craft to the next level, crossing Sailor Moon with romantic goth fashion.

And it doesn’t have to end with Nosferatu. Sleepy Hollow, Crimson Peak, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Anne Rice’s Interview with a Vampire…you get a collab, you get a collab, YOU GET A COLLAB!

The possibilities are endless with this imaginary skincare brand. So, what do you think, alts, goths and baby bats? Did I nail it in the coffin? ⚰️ Would you add Timeless to your skincare routine?
