Run Like Hell: The Turbo-G Run Club Brand Inspired by Turbo Granny from Dan Da Dan
Run Like Hell: A Run Club Inspired by Turbo Granny
Okay, so Turbo Granny isn’t a magical girl. But we stan an active bystander—protecting young girls from pdfiles.
Even if it meant taking a few dongs in the process. 🤗🍌
When I thought about what kind of brand Turbo Granny would front, I immediately thought RUN CLUB. Yes it is a literal take on her yokai abilities but it’s not just any run club. TURBO-G Run Club is orderly chaos packed with adrenaline-fueled experiences.
You shouldn’t be limited to the confines of a diet, a weight goal or unrealistic expectations.
Running should set you and your demons free.
Why a run club?
I imagined a club with a gritty, unhinged aesthetic that mirrors her movement in the anime—appearing in a blur and always leaving chaos in her wake.
Designed for Chaos to Be (Somewhat) Contained Enough for Consumption
How I captured the crazy:
- This project has the most logo variations I’ve made for any single brand in my anime branding series.
- High-octane visuals and motion blur-inspired layouts in the graphic applications.
- Taglines that evoked urgency—as if what you’re running from is up to you.
“Run Like Hell” is a fitting tagline for this run club right? Like tell me this wouldn't SLAP on some club merch or a Nike collab capsule drop.
The Chaos IRL
If this brand was taken to an experiential level, I could see a night run event starting and ending where? You guessed it, in a tunnel.
The “Turbo Tunnel Night Run” would have neon signs, fog machines, cursed glow sticks, and sound design that makes you feel like you’re being chased.
Runner's high meets existential dread. Iconic.
A Turbo-G Run Club App, Better Than an Apple Watch
What I love most about the logo variations of this brand is the potential for app icons. Then my mind wandered off to start envisioning a Turbo-G run club app with:
- Scenic-yet-haunted virtual running trails so you can take the turbo-g experience with you anywhere and win medals.
- Intense daily challenges that help you attack your running goals.
- A special trail mode where you can virtually race against Turbo Granny (her top speed is 90mph btw).
- A running mate chat where you can coordinate runs with your besties at any time.
- A built in support system for women that go running at night including an SOS button and an alarm sound that when triggered fires off slurs from Turbo Granny herself.
