URWORLD Xtreme Sports: A Fearless Brand Inspired by Sailor Uranus

Image
She's a Daring Figure Everybody who said Tuxedo Mask was hot was secretly crushing on Sailor Uranus. Yep—I’m talking about you, boo. 🫵🏾 We’re headed to the outer planets of the Milky Way in this next installment of my magical girl branding series, and there’s no better place to start than with Sailor Uranus, aka HOT-ruka. From flying helicopters to racing cars and laying a big wet one on Usagi knowing full well destiny paired her with Mamoru, she’s a daring figure. So naturally, I had to channel that unmatched energy into a brand that celebrates her power and fearlessness. Introducing: URWORLD Xtreme Sports Group URWORLD is an extreme sports brand dedicated to empowering women and girls to break barriers in extreme sports traditionally dominated by men like motocross, skydiving and snowboarding. A Brand That Cuts Through Gender-Based Expectations A logo representing the reach and impact of the URWORLD across the globe using a circular tire mark. Powerful visuals spotlighting wome...

Run Like Hell: The Turbo-G Run Club Brand Inspired by Turbo Granny from Dan Da Dan

Image
Run Like Hell: A Run Club Inspired by Turbo Granny Okay, so Turbo Granny isn’t a magical girl. But we stan an active bystander—protecting young girls from pdfiles. Even if it meant taking a few dongs in the process. 🤗🍌 When I thought about what kind of brand Turbo Granny would front, I immediately thought RUN CLUB. Yes it is a literal take on her yokai abilities but it’s not just any run club. TURBO-G Run Club is orderly chaos packed with adrenaline-fueled experiences. You shouldn’t be limited to the confines of a diet, a weight goal or unrealistic expectations.  Running should set you and your demons free. Why a run club? I imagined a club with a gritty, unhinged aesthetic that mirrors her movement in the anime—appearing in a blur and always leaving chaos in her wake. Designed for Chaos to Be (Somewhat) Contained Enough for Consumption How I captured the crazy: This project has the most logo variations I’ve made for any single brand in my anime branding series. High-octane visua...

Venus Ocean Gems: A Jewelry Brand Inspired by Sailor Venus's Passion for Love

Image
Sailor Venus Is a Girls’ Girl Although every Sailor Guardian wants to see other women win, Venus would thrive knowing she helped someone say *yes* to the big question. That’s why I dreamed up Venus Ocean Gems—a high-end jewelry boutique brand where love, lore, and confidence collide. Introducing Venus Ocean Gems This brand reflects everything Sailor Venus embodies—romance, agency, emotional depth—with a little help of mythological references to the goddess of love Aphrodite. Here are some of the highlights: Logo Versatility The versatility of the logo is perfect for packaging, store fronts and digital marketing assets. Design Influences: Love, Lore & The Sea Key illustrations of sirens, cupid and knights pulled into a modern design system give vintage storybook romance energy. Designed for All Gazes The visual applications don’t simply focus on the jewelry like traditional jewelry brands do. they focus on who is wearing the jewelry and what role they play in their love story. In so...

Flower Hurricane Nursery: A Sailor Jupiter-Inspired Plant Nursery Brand for the Whimsical Warrior

Image
Who Says Tomboys Can’t Be Whimsical? While I was working on Sailor Jupiter’s brand exercise, it was so hard to step away from the lightning aspect of her signature aesthetic. Until I thought about how that underneath her tough exterior she also has a soft side with a passion for plant life and cooking.  That duality inspired Flower Hurricane Nursery—a plant nursery brand inspired by Sailor Jupiter that celebrates both the storm and the softness within. Introducing Flower Hurricane Nursery We’re not talking any ole place to buy houseplants. Imagine community tea parties with your besties surrounded by plants that you can buy or seeds that you can take home with you, and activities that help you reinvent yourself into the badass you want to be—embracing the harmony between destruction and growth, protection and peace. The Calm & The Storm This nursery’s tagline perfectly captures Jupiter’s vibe—nurturing but not to be played with. This brand blends floral mosaics, settings that m...

The Garnet Research Institute: A Sailor Pluto-Inspired STEM Brand

Image
The Garnet Research Institute: Where Time, Space, and Science Collide Let’s face it. Sailor Pluto, the eternal gatekeeper of time and space, is the original magical girl in STEM. So it felt only right to create a fictional research institute that mirrors her power and purpose: The Garnet Research Institute. With her incredible knowledge of dimensional planes and cosmic energy sources, her brand needed to be both scientific and ethereal. A Brand That Gives Research… Dimension  The tagline says it all: "Giving research dimension." Inspired by Pluto’s manipulation of space and time, this phrase suggests a deeper layer of scientific discovery. It’s about pushing beyond conventional boundaries, opening portals to knowledge we haven't dared to explore—yet. Why Garnet?  The name draws directly from Sailor Pluto’s Garnet Rod, an artifact representing both authority and mystery. Garnet, a gem believed to have protective and metaphysical properties, perfectly embodies the brand’...

Why Every Nerdy Brand Needs a Marketing System Before Building a Content Strategy

Image
If you just launched your nerdy brand (or any brand) and the first thing you did was start posting on social media… we need to talk. Here’s the pattern I see way too often: creators jump straight into content creation without setting up the marketing systems to actually support it. Then they’re burned out, bouncing between 6 different apps, wondering where their free time went—and why their engagement’s tanking. Lucky for you, I’m breaking down the six essential tool categories every nerdy brand or anime creator needs to stay consistent, creative, and SANE.

Stellar Stories: Designing Lucy Heartfilia's Celestial Publishing Brand

Image
Alright ya’ll…it’s time to give Lucy Heartfilia, the Celestial Spirit Mage and bookworm herself, her flowers. Inspired by her love for literature, my next magical girl brand exercise conceptualizes what Lucy's personal brand might look like if she ventured into the publishing world. The Inspiration Behind the Brand  I originally pictured Lucy running a quaint little bookstore. But sis comes from old money. Considering her family's vast library, her own memoir-in-progress, and her bookish bond with Levy—I decided that Lucy’s brand was meant to be bigger. She’s a storyteller at heart, so I imagined her not just selling books, but shaping them—as the founder of her own celestial-themed publishing house. Crafting the Celestial Aesthetic  With Fiore’s unique medieval-forward style as my north star, I aimed to bring the humble elegance of Lucy’s inheritance to 2025. 🌃 Logo Marks: “Stairway to Heaven” as a visual concept initially came to mind when crafting this brand. And if yo...
